Crawford County Chronicles Returns for 2024 Season

Written By: Rachel Putman

The Crawford County Chronicles will launch its 2024 season on Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m., featuring a 19th-century music performance led by Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, a University of Arkansas – Fort Smith music professor, and her students. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the historic Drennen-Scott House.

Tom Wing, director of the Drennen-Scott Historic Site and assistant professor of history at 91ΧΤΕΔ, will collaborate with Zacharella to provide historical insights into the music of the era. β€œWe are very excited to have Dr. Zacharella and her students for our first program of the year," said Wing. "Sharing historical music in the context in which Drennen-Scott enjoyed its golden era enriches us all. A chance to feature 91ΧΤΕΔ faculty and students is a win as well.”

Now in its 13th year, the Crawford County Chronicles began in 2011 as a monthly lecture series held on the first Sunday of each month. The program has since showcased a diverse range of scholars, authors, musical guests, and experts in Arkansas history, preservation, and heritage.
